Ingredients
For 24 servings
- 280 gall-purpose flour
- 230 gbutter
- 100 ggranulated sugar
- 150 gbrown sugar
- 2eggs
- 2 tspvanilla extract
- 1 tspbaking soda
- 1 tspsalt
- 340 gchocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190C (375F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 5cm apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers are still soft. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Cook’s notes
Chilling the dough for 30 minutes to overnight gives thicker cookies with a deeper flavour. Take them out while the centres still look underbaked; they firm up on the tray. The dough freezes well in portioned balls, so you can bake a few at a time.
