Looking for a ReciMe alternative?
ReciMe and Buttter both turn social media recipes into real ones. They differ on what happens next: planning and shopping inside the app, or cooking from your fridge and shopping in the list you already use.

What ReciMe does well
ReciMe is a polished, popular recipe app. It runs on iPhone, Android, the web and as a Chrome extension, so it fits households that mix devices. It imports from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest and websites, and also from screenshots, photos and handwritten recipes. When a video has no caption, ReciMe tries the audio and then looks for the creator’s website. It has a weekly meal planner and an aisle-sorted grocery list with in-app delivery ordering. The free plan includes 5 imports a week; Premium removes the limit and adds nutrition.
If you want meal planning, Android or web access, or to save your grandmother’s handwritten cards, ReciMe is a strong pick.
Where Buttter is different
- Cook from what you have. Snap your fridge or pantry and Buttter writes a recipe around those ingredients, respecting your diets and allergies. That’s the “I have food but no plan” moment, not just the “I saw a recipe” one.
- Your list, not another list. Buttter doesn’t ask you to keep a second grocery list. It sends ingredients to Apple Reminders, Things 3 or Todoist, wherever your household already shops from.
- Nutrition on every recipe. Calories, protein, carbs and a full breakdown, with nothing to log.
- Video-first imports. Share a TikTok, Reel or YouTube Short and Buttter reads the video itself as well as the caption.
- Auto-organizing. Imports can file themselves into the right cookbook, next to curated and community collections.

Switching from ReciMe
Buttter has no ReciMe file importer. Open the recipes you cook most, follow each one back to its original post or website, and share that link to Buttter. It takes a few seconds per recipe, and you can keep ReciMe installed in the meantime.
Verdict
- Choose ReciMe for meal planning, cross-platform access, and a grocery list inside the app.
- Choose Buttter if you’re on iPhone or iPad, want recipes from what’s in your fridge, and prefer shopping from your own to-do app.
